With the relaunch of Thomas and Friends in CGI we were tasked with creating a site equal in wonder. Users gained access to the extensive art, activities, videos, and games throughout helped to guide the user experience.
Each page of the site was flexible and rich with the tank engines or Sir Topham Hatt always the focus. A conscious effort was made to minimize advertising on the site and have efforts put towards promoting live events and building community.
Core to the redesign of Thomas and Friends was to enable rich personalized pages to encourage repeated visits. Personalized pages allowed children to choose a favorite tank engine theme by which we surfaced games, videos, and activities.
For the first time ever fans were able to see the more than 100 tank engines in a single view. The main steam team was featured in the gallery but users were able to discover new engines such a Fergus, Cranky and Dash!
